Allen would give 84-year-old homeowner Stuart Johnson periodic updates, saying things were going well until he stopped returning phone calls in April 2012, police said. At that point, Johnson sent someone to check on the property only to learn no work had been conducted, police said. Assistant District Attorney Travis Weber said an attorney for Johnson later informed authorities Allen accepted $25,000 to work on another project that he never actually started. Authorities said a Hanover Township, Northampton County , man hired Allen to paint his home on the 800 block of Briarstone Lane.
